  • As an Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering (m/f/d), you’re responsible for ensuring that electrical systems and equipment in companies run smoothly. Your tasks include:
  • Installing electrical systems: You wire machines, install control systems, and set up distribution boards.
  • Maintenance and servicing: You inspect and maintain electrical systems to ensure they always function properly. This includes regular inspections and testing.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs: When a system fails, you diagnose the problem and fix it to get everything running again.
  • Safety checks: You ensure that all electrical systems are safe and meet regulatory requirements.
  • System optimization: You work on making electrical systems more efficient to improve production processes.
  • Technical documentation: You document all work performed and create test reports to keep track of everything.

How the training works

At the start of your apprenticeship, you’ll be introduced to the basics of electrical engineering at vocational school. You’ll learn about electrical circuits, control systems, and automation, as well as subjects like mathematics, physics, and safety regulations. Additionally, you’ll receive training in business processes and communication to better understand how companies operate.

At the same time, you’ll spend a significant amount of time working in the company, where you’ll apply what you’ve learned in practice. You’ll be involved in various departments, assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and machines. You’ll also learn how to troubleshoot, install control systems, and ensure that all equipment meets safety standards.

After about two years, you’ll take an interim exam to assess your progress and prepare for the final exam. At the end of the apprenticeship, you’ll take a final exam consisting of both a written test and a practical assessment. You’ll need to demonstrate both your theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

Upon successful completion, you’ll have good chances of being taken on by the company. If you want to further develop your career, you can pursue additional qualifications, such as becoming a Master Technician or Technician, or even go on to study in a related field.
